Off the Wall Art Gala

Off the Wall Art Gala

We recently had the opportunity to support an organization that is near and dear to our hearts, Sheffield Place. Through the programs provided by Sheffield Place, homeless mothers and children in the Kansas City area are becoming self-sufficient and healed from the severe, chronic, and continuous trauma they have experienced in their lives.

We are proud to be a small part of Sheffield Place’s incredible success with our sponsorship and look forward to supporting this great cause again next year. If you would like to give to Sheffield Place and help make an impact in the lives of others, please visit their website here.

Habitat for Humanity Work Day

Habitat for Humanity Work Day

Each year, the team at Mantel Teter volunteers with Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City. Working together to make an impact in our local community is so important and reinforces one of our company’s core values, which is giving back through serving. This year we worked on two homes providing support with blocking and framing. Looking forward to helping out again next year!

Golf FOR an Impact

Golf FOR an Impact

The Summit Church, located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, held their annual Golf FOR an Impact Golf Tournament earlier this summer. Skyler took part in the tournament and helped raise funds for mission projects! All the proceeds help support the church’s projects, such as The Hope Center, Lee's Summit Elementary School and Hillcrest Transitional Housing.

MT Night at the Royals Game

Spending time outside of work hours is so important to our team at Mantel Teter! What better way to spend time together than at the Royals Game!

Team Building at Top Golf

TopGolf2018.JPG

Our team recently had the chance to get together for a team building event at Top Golf, in Overland Park, KS. We had a great time and appreciated the golf pro who was available for some quick pointers to improve our swing. Although some of us didn’t need any pointers, particularly Skyler!

A New Prairie Village Pipe Organ Finds Its Voice

A New Prairie Village Pipe Organ Finds Its Voice

By Suzanne Hogan, KCUR 89.3

Getting the pipe organ Opus 22 installed and settled in its new Prairie Village home at Village Presbyterian Church was no small task.

It's a massive instrument. Standing 24 feet tall, it takes up the whole back wall of the church. It weighs 17 tons, and has 3,600 pipes inside. Some of the pipes are as tall as 16 feet, while others are just a few inches. And each pipe has been carefully voiced so it sounds just right, a process that took 40,000 hours of labor.

Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Day

At Mantel Teter we believe strongly in giving back to our Kansas City community. One of the organizations we support is Habitat for Humanity. Providing not only a shelter, but a home for an individual or family is something we wholeheartedly believe in. Along with other volunteers, our architects and staff helped with demo of an existing Kansas City home as well as reinforcement of the existing structure. There is still a lot of work to be done, but we enjoyed getting our hands dirty and laying the groundwork for this house to become a home. Below are a few photos from the day.

Empty Bowls, a Kansas City Benefit for Harvesters

Brian Rathsam and Skyler Phelps of Mantel Teter recently attended Empty Bowls, a Kansas City benefit for Harvesters. Empty Bowls is a worldwide project aimed at feeding hungry people one region at a time. Brian and his daughter helped serve various types of soups from Michael Smith RestaurantNara and B.B.'s Lawnside BarB-Q. The evening was filled with good food, a collection of ceramic bowls from Kansas City artist Leroy Grubbs and an art auction. Skyler even walked away with a few art pieces!

Off the Wall

On Saturday, October 15, 2016, Sheffield Place held their annual Off the Wall event at the National Airline History Museum. Skyler Phelps, Off the Wall committee chair and member of the Sheffield Place Board of Directors, and several other Mantel Teter staff gathered together to support the mission of Sheffield Place. That evening a record amount - $204,510 – was raised for the mission of healing and self-sufficiency for homeless children and their families! The generosity from the evening is now providing housing, therapy and case management, and the life skills the Sheffield Place families need to move from despair to hope and from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Below are a few photos from the night.
