Located in the downtown urban core of this bedroom community of Oak Grove, Missouri, First Baptist Church has experienced phenomenal growth in worship, children, and youth ministries. Facing the questions of what to build next and where, they called upon the experienced and unique planning skills of Mantel Teter Architects. Having served the church once before with its previous Sanctuary project, we were already well acquainted with their core missional values. However, ministry changes over time to respond to our culture.
Recognizing this paradigm shift in their demographics, Mantel Teter Architects led the key ministry leadership groups in the church through our “Dream Day” programming workshop experience to uncover the ministry values, directions, and facility needs to meet those goals. This process discovered that the highest priority of space needed is a new Youth Building, detached from the existing church facilities, and a building addition to accommodate new children’s ministry classrooms. Also needed would be more parking to provide enough spaces for their growing numbers. read more >>
